Introduction
Wind power is generated using turbines that convert the kinetic energy from wind into mechanical energy, which is then transformed into electricity. On the other hand, solar power captures sunlight using photovoltaic cells, converting it directly into electrical energy. Solar photovoltaics (PV) and wind power have been growing at an accelerated pace, more than doubling in installed capacity and nearly doubling their share of global electricity generation from 2018 to 2023. This report underscores the urgent need for timely integration of solar PV and wind capacity. This study investigates the spatial and temporal dynamics of wind and solar energy generation across the continental United States, focusing on energy availability, reliability, variability, and cooperation. Using data from the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, we analyze the performance of. Among offshore technologies, wind and solar photovol-taic (PV) have emerged as the most promising solutions.
